Red Dead Redemption 3 can open up a lot of new possibilities for places like Red Dead Redemption 2 did with part of the old map but also an opening on the eastern part. This offered us about triple the space available than in the American part of the second opus.
So where will rdr3 take place? Well this question is strongly linked to the story of the game, indeed, if like the relation between the 1st and the 2nd the 3rd is a prequel or a spin-off, it is quite possible that the current map is once again part of a new map, and therefore the old places will still be accessible. However, this would imply an insanely large map that would certainly fit a GTA, but not necessarily an RDR… Who wants to spend 40 minutes riding to get from one end of the map to the other?
Another possibility is that the story follows its course chronologically and that we therefore find ourselves at the end of the first part in the skin of Jack Marston, in this case perhaps the link with the previous games is will stop there, and that Jack, after having killed Edgar Ross finds himself forced to flee in order to prevent his former colleagues from finding him. The problem with this theory is that when we step into Jack’s shoes, we are already in 1914! To put it into perspective, it’s 2 years after the sinking of the Titanic… We’re leaving the western world of RDR a little too much, and it’s hard to see Jack Going to war in Europe as well, which would be completely irrelevant.
So, new map? Map only enlarged as in the second pane? All bets are up!
