Mary Linton
Mary Linton, born Mary Gillis, is the former fiancee and great love of Arthur Morgan. Their engagement ended years before the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, broken by Arthur's outlaw life and her family's disapproval, and she later married a man named Barry Linton, who has since died.
Widowed and still drawn to Arthur, Mary reappears through the story asking for his help with her troubled family. She represents the ordinary, settled life Arthur gave up for the gang.

Biography
Engaged to an outlaw
Mary and Arthur were engaged in their youth, but his loyalty to the Van der Linde gang and her father's contempt for him ended the relationship. Mary went on to marry Barry Linton; by 1899 she is a widow.
The Gillis family
In Red Dead Redemption 2, Mary contacts Arthur for help: first to pull her brother Jamie away from a cult, and later to deal with her ailing, demanding father. Their reunions are warm but painful, and a future together never quite becomes possible.
Personality
Mary is kind and quietly sad, torn between her feelings for Arthur and her knowledge of what loving an outlaw costs. She is one of the few people who sees Arthur as more than a gunman.
