Micah Bell
Micah Bell is the principal antagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2: a vicious, self-serving gunman who joins the Van der Linde gang shortly before its fall and rots it from the inside. Where Arthur Morgan embodies the gang's conscience, Micah is its poison, the snake whispering in Dutch van der Linde's ear as everything collapses.
His full name is Micah Bell III, and his ultimate betrayal, working secretly as a Pinkerton informant, makes him the man most responsible for the gang's destruction. He was voiced by Peter Blomquist in a performance fans love to hate.

Biography
A late, dangerous arrival
Micah Bell joined the Van der Linde gang not long before the disastrous Blackwater job of 1899, making him one of its newest members when Red Dead Redemption 2 begins. A career criminal with a cruel streak, he quickly positions himself close to Dutch van der Linde, eager to be the leader's right hand.
The snake in the camp
As the gang's fortunes worsen, Micah makes himself indispensable to Dutch, encouraging his worst instincts and pushing increasingly reckless, bloody schemes. He clashes constantly with Arthur Morgan, who never trusts him, and his influence drives a wedge through the family.
The traitor revealed
The full scope of Micah's treachery only becomes clear at the end: he has been secretly working with the Pinkertons, feeding agent Andrew Milton information to bring the gang down in exchange for his own freedom. Arthur uncovers the truth too late to save what is left of the family.
Personality
Micah is cruel, cowardly and utterly self-interested, the moral opposite of the loyalty Dutch's gang claims to value. He enjoys violence, goads others into bloodshed, and has no cause beyond his own survival and advancement.
What makes him effective is not strength but manipulation. He reads Dutch's insecurities perfectly and tells him exactly what he wants to hear, turning a faltering leader into a weapon aimed at his own family.
Relationships
Dutch van der Linde
The leader Micah latches onto and manipulates, feeding his paranoia to make himself indispensable as the gang falls apart.
Arthur Morgan
His chief rival within the gang. Arthur distrusts Micah from the start and is the one who finally exposes his treachery.
John Marston
A survivor of the gang who, years later, hunts Micah down to settle the score for everything he destroyed.
Sadie Adler
One of his fiercest enemies among the survivors, she joins the hunt that ends his life at Mount Hagen.
Andrew Milton
The Pinkerton agent Micah secretly informs for, trading the gang's secrets for his own freedom.
Death and fate
By 1907 Micah has built his own gang and holed up at Mount Hagen, in the snowy mountains where the Van der Linde story began. John Marston, Sadie Adler and Charles Smith track him down for a final reckoning.
In the confrontation, an aged Dutch unexpectedly appears, and after a tense standoff shoots Micah in the chest before walking away without a word. John finishes him off, ending the life of the man who tore the gang apart. It is a cold, fitting close to Red Dead Redemption 2's tragedy.
Behind the scenes
Micah was performed by Peter Blomquist through voice and motion capture. The role is widely credited as one of gaming's most effective villains precisely because Blomquist makes Micah so genuinely loathsome, grating, smug and menacing in equal measure.
Rockstar seeds clues to Micah's betrayal throughout the game, rewarding players who replay it knowing the ending. His true allegiance recontextualises nearly every scene he appears in.
Reception and legacy
Micah Bell became one of the most hated characters in modern gaming, which is exactly the reaction Rockstar intended. He is the rare antagonist players despise on a personal level rather than admire.
As the engine of the gang's downfall, Micah is inseparable from Red Dead Redemption 2's tragedy, and a benchmark for how a single character can poison an entire story from within.
